Hooray, a new decade! So, at the end of the year that was, I accepted a new job, one with a company I had worked for before, with the promise of a free move to California with a job! Hooray! I jumped on that as fast as I could. So, I have been jumping on projects to help out and bring them back under control. Mission accomplished. I am headed into the spring and I still don't have a firm move date. Ok, no big deal, just some planning would help, right? Some time to pack and prepare. . but whatevs, San Diego baby! Always nice weather, accept for now http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34926340/ns/weather/. . wow that sucks, ok so a little bit of a wait is prolly a good thing!

I do wish I could have gotten involved in some theater though. The promise of a possible January departure kept me from committing to a show. And, trying to get around, visit and spend time with those I care about is going to be tough to schedule, but I want to leave right this time. Not just quit my job, hop in a car and leave. I will be back and forth for a while, at least a year, and I fully expect visits! Hooray! Finally a beach destination option!

There will be more posts, moving alone is lonely man!

A year, wtf? I can't even believe its been a year. My parents always said that the older you get the faster the time goes. Being 40, I so get that! What did I do? Not a heck of alot. I started the year off with Jeffrey, where I got to be a Pre-Op Transsexual Lesbian (male to female), which was a first for me. I have never done drag on stage before, and it was quite liberating. The experience was amazing. From Jeffrey I journeyed into Bye Bye Birdie. Good times, awesome peeps so . . . mission accomplished. The final show was 20 Million Breaststrokes to Earth. I know right? What?! It was challenging and so much fun. After years of 4 to 8 weeks of rehearsals, to have 2 rehearsals (one blocking, one off book and GO) great cause, our show supported the Mautner Project (http://www.mautnerproject.org).

A couple of shows, alot of work and some fun times :) On to a new year!

So, this year is starting off with a bang of sorts. I have a new gig, with the US Air Force, working on the Bolling Air Force Base. I am currently in the San Francisco area attending a class, and am catching up with some old friends. . . . .but first this past weekend. . . . .

I was invited to one of my bartenders from Freddie's after holiday party. Such a nice affair. I brought the boy down a day early, had dinner down by the beach, looked at the ocean than ran back to the car to escape the 9 degree weather! We had a good time, shopping, hanging out and just enjoying each other's company. We were joined by some friends, and went out for a night of craziness. . .good times, late nights. . . .ahhhh Rehoboth. So, we go to this wonderful party. Good food, plenty of booze, and fun people, then head to the bars. . .and this is where things kind of fall apart. The boy decided that it was HIS vacation and wanted to have some fun. He jumped straight onto the dance floor and went at it with the first people he came in contact with, a couple from the party we had just come from. Now, I have had my issues with him before, and this is one of them. He is so free and unadulterated when he dances, he loses track of where he is and just let go. . .making out with people and being completely slutty. . . .

We got into it, I confronted him and he threw right back that I need to move on and find someone age appropriate. . fair enough, true enough. So, he decided to take off and leave us behind. Unfortunately, I had to leave early the next morning for a flight and left him behind. Probably the hardest thing I have ever done, but I had no choice. I arranged for another ride back, but haven't seen him, but he is ok and got back in time for work.

Ok, before the comments come in about what are you doing, why are you letting this stuff go on, I have it under control. .no worries. . . .ok, so now I am in the San Fran area, hooray! I spent this evening with an old friend who I haven't seen in YEARS! It was good to catch up, and hear about his wife and 2 children! So, tomorrow night is hanging with an ex, who now is dating a woman. . huh? I know! Well, to be fair, the old friend who has a wife and kids was kind of my original boy toy. He was 19 and I was 25 when we moved to Richmond together and slept together, in the same bed, and enjoyed each other ummmm, physically. I see a pattern, a pattern that was not apparent previously, seeing him again, after so many years and remembering our relationship makes me realize that I have a Daddy complex. . .yes, I know this is not surprising for you, but it is for me. I didn't think of my self as parental in any way, but now I see that I crave helping young people traverse life and learn to be about life. Weird huh? So, I see now that I need to focus back on me, back on my happiness and not teach, not guide, but live my life.

I look forward to seeing my other ex-gay ex and, the other friend, who I haven't seen since he was 16! He was a model, and is now working on getting a degree in acting. I am so excited. . then, finish the trip off with an age appropriate bar hopping spree in the Castro. . .hooray! Back in DC this weekend! Hooray for Obama!

So, I have been remiss in posting, so here's a short catch up.

I had a fabulous Wine and Cheese party last weekend, which was a big hit. I wanted to invite everyone I knew, however, my apartment being the size it is. . no more 60 people parties for me. As it was, with 25 people, the cops came twice to break it up! LOL! The sign of a truly good party (for pics, check out my albums on Facebook).

With my time off I have been able to spend more time with the boy, and I have really enjoyed myself. . .sure, we aren't dating and he considers me his best friend, but I am slowly getting used to our relationship, and have had very few melt downs in the new year. . .hooray!

Unfortunately, my bosses found me a position working for the Air Force up on Bolling Air Force base, so my extended bench time was cut short, probably a good thing too! This whole sleeping until 2 pm is for the birds! I like the sun! So, back to work I go. Of course, I worked today and Tuesday and am now off until the 2nd week in February! Hooray! First stop, REhoboth Beach, DE with the boy and some of my Freddies pals where I am attending a fabulous party hosted by some Freddies friends. Then I rush back on Sunday to catch a 3 pm flight to San Francisco for a week of training, Hooray! Then a week of training in McLain, VA and finally a week of training in Houston, TX. . .hooray? LOL.

Aside from that, just doing my thing, trying to stay in more and relax. . not drink, and actually take better care of myself. Looking forward to a kick ass year, and who knows, maybe a show will pop in there too at some time. . . .there are days I really miss doing shows, and there are days where I think to myself, do I miss it? The answer, yes. .I really do.

Peace.

A New Year Dawns!

So, now that things have calmed down and I can gain some perspective on things, I am ready to start anew this 2009. As you have read, 2008, not such a good year for me. Now I have the chance to make things good again. I finished my hell project, and have the ability to rest and relax until March 1st, when my next project starts. My boss is signing me up for training classes, not sure where yet, but am hoping to0 get some travelling in. Don't know what my next assignment will be, but am hoping for 1) Non Government 2) travel. I didn't give up acting to drive back and forth to Baltimore!

The home life is good. The boy is still with me, and our friendship is becoming pretty tight. Its tough, I would love to bring him out and about with me, meet more of my friends, but being 19, the options are limited. Having someone to cuddle with, and spend time with, go to dinner and such has made me lax in my quest to find love in DC, but they always say it happens when you are not looking. ..well fate, I am not looking, lay it on me! :)

I am focusing on making some positive changes in my life. Having 2 months off of work could play out quite badly for me and my party boy ways, and I am focusing on not letting that happen, on reading more, working out more and having more intimate gatherings of movies and games rather than beer and whiskey fests. Fear not, I am not going to get all lame and what not, just need to grab the reins and reflect on the crappy situations partying has gotten me into and how to deflect those situations in 2009.

All and all, I hope to bring more smiles than "awww's" in my blog and hope to make some awesome memories this year. Happy New Year all!

Tales for Furry Land

So, here I am at the Midwest FurFest with the boy and his best friend. Conference is definitely interesting. Its amazing to me how gung-ho these people are with there furry personas. Its really kind of cool. I must admit, I haven't taken in as much as I could have, I have felt a bit out of place, but the more I take in, the more I want to see. Its such a tight nit community. They really seem to care about each other, and keep up with each other's lives and its so nice to see.
The location is pretty crappy, however, stuck out in the middle of nowhere in Wheeling, IL. The hotel is nice, and accomidating for all of the furry events, however, trying to get to Chicago without a car just isn't happening. Trying to find reasonable food without a car, again, not happening.
I have been using the time to try to relax and unwind, took me 2 days, but I am feeling more like myself. . more relaxed, still emotionally confused about things with the boy, but happy to see him in his element, being revered by his friends. One of his friends actually thanked me for taking him in and giving him a home, which made me feel pretty good.
The start of this trip sucked, not going to lie. Got a call from work 10 minutes before boarding, and ended up missing my plane trying to solve a problem that could not be solved over the phone, then arrived in Chicago at the wrong airport (Chicago Midway, NOT OHare) then, when I called the boy for a ride, he said it would take them about 1.5 hours to come get me, which at 10 at night, was NOT an option for me, so I decided to get a cab. 175 for a cab to the hotel 175!! Luckily, (and i haven't used THAT word in a while) a limo driver happened to be lurking around and came up to me and said he would drive me for 85 bucks. . .still a lot, but I decided it would be better than trying to rent a car. . .why you may ask? I have no idea, but being exhausted and stressed out from work, I thought it was the best option.
I arrived and we went to the convention hotel and hung out for a bit. .a few furries were out and about and I got my first taste. Then, we ended up back at the hotel at around 4 in the morning. The next morning, we got up at 8 and started the day. Headed to get some art supplies, headed to the convention, hung out . . .the boy and his friend are artists so they worked in the art room most of the day, leaving me to try to keep myself entertained. . it was tough, not knowing anyone, just wandering around. . .I did my best, but got bored after a while. So, they ended up dropping me off at the hotel, and worked until around 4 in the morning again. Today, well i had every intention of hopping on the Metra (Chicago metro) and meeting up with my old high school bud to hang out and check out Chicago. . .well, I of course, am staying on the only line that does not run on the weekends, and him without a car, I was stuck here. . . to watch movies, and try not to wake the sleeping wonder twins.
We are finally off to hang back at the convention and attend a birthday party for one of their furry friends. . . we are pre-gaming a bit, and my liver is really happy to have liquor again. . having not had any since Thursday!
Ok, am hoping for some better stories for my next post, and maybe a picture or two, if you are lucky.

Birthday Eve.

So, it is the eve of my 39th birthday. . ugh 39!? Still single, still wading my way through a crappy job. . but hey, I got my health right? And an abundnace of awesome friends and family who truly care and want me to be happy. So, why the stick in the mud attitude? Well, I guess I am just disturbed at how unsettled I am at this point in my life, and how unstable things are. Am I moving to San Diego? Am I going to fly back and forth? Did it fall through? All questions I am dying to get the answer to.
In a moment of dire stupidity, I opened an invitation to the boy to move out to San Diego with me, of which he was exstatic. Why, you may ask, would I do something stupid like that? Well, my heart is living this fantasy that we are a couple, even though the reality is that we are not. Having said that, it is comforting to know that I will not be starting that adventure (should it come to fruition) alone.
The life of a travelling consultant is seriously leaving me feeling empty inside. Having to give up my passion of theater for the unstable schedule I keep. The continued threats of having to travel keeps me from saying screw it and auditioning. I never thought I would come to a point in my life that theater would be taken away from me, but here I am. Theater will be there when I return, and I WILL return. Even if i have to find a different job to do it.
Hmmm, I guess I should get to work. . .lord knows I have alot to do before I roll off so, for now. . .laters!

At long last. . .really nothing bad to right about! Hooray! Things are moving in a more positive direction of late. I am moved into the permanent apartment and am working hard to keep it looking swanky and new (which is hard living with a 19 year old who hasn't quite picked up the concept of laundry). I am getting things accomplished at work. I have gotten more information on the next gig, which is alot to swallow. The new contract wants me to actually MOVE to San Diego for a year, so they don't have to pay to fly me back and forth cross country. Would I do it? Perhaps. I always said I would move back to CA in a heart beat if I could find a job that would pay for my move. . perhaps this is it. OR do i continue to pay rent for my apartment in DC and enjoy an apartment in San Diego that the company is paying for? So much to think about! The tenative start date is mid December, so I have time to mull it over.
Things with the boy are about the same, though I have fully moved into my Sugar Daddy role. I have been so excited to see him in his element in Chicago that not only have I reserved the suite in my name, I also bought the airline tickets to get out there. . .I know what you are thinking. . ."You are an idiot!" "You are letting him rule you!" "He is just going to hurt you!" I know. . .believe me I know. . .but, I have to admit. A big part of me really enjoys throwing money around. Its wrong, I know. . . I should be saving, I should be buying myself things rather than the boytoy. In time, it will wear off I am sure.
Saw an amazing concert on Monday. Went with my bud Rob to see Jason Mraz at Constitution Hall. It was awesome! He played for over 2 and a half hours! Also caught Max Payne on Sunday. Not a bad movie, not great either. I LOVE the video game, and was happy to see some of the creepiness in the movie, as well as the familiar sound effects that haunted me in one of the levels for 3 days straight!
Not much else to report. I am just working alot and sleeping very little. I can't remember the last time I got more than 3 or 4 hours of sleep!
My favorite holiday is right around the corner! Hooray! Halloween just ROCKS!

Its Friday! Hooray! Well, the day has FINALLY come to move into my new place. The temporary apartment was swanky and nice, but I am looking forward to a place with a bedroom door, more cabinet space and a storage room! No more boxes stacked up in the corner!
So, I have set myself up for quite an adventure next month. I made reservations to journey to Chicago to attend the Midwest Fur Fest. What is this you may ask? Well, its a Furry convention. What's a Furry you may ask. . . wikipedia has some good information on this subculture. . .http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furry_fandom
I am very much intregued by this sub culture, and when the Boy invited to me to come along with him and his furry friends, how could I say no!? Stay tuned for that blog entry, I will be sure to include pictures and many stories.

Well, my hell year just keeps getting better and better.

As if I didn't have enough going on, I had the misfortune of getting rearended by a Metro Bus on my way home from work on Friday. Good times, good times. . .although my car is still drivable, it breaks my heart that my first brand new car only remained brand new for 3 months. . .ugh! I have blogged before about my unbelievable bad luck, but this is getting ridiculous!

Weekend was pretty good, nothing too exciting to report. Saw an amazing production of 110 Degrees in the Shade out at Kensington Arts Theater. I must say the performances were amazing, not that I am surprised. I had never heard the music before and was really impressed with the melodies and the fun of the music. I was truly proud of the cast for a fantastic production.

The boy has finally secured an apartment, which he is moving into late November/Early December. I am so torn as to whether I am relieved or bummed about this. I have been having a hard time maintaining the fact that he is 19, not looking for a relationship, maintains a restaurant schedule of sleeping most of the day, and hanging out until the wee hours, and is trying to meet people and make friends in DC. Intellectually, I know that I have, yet again, attached myself emotionally to someone that does not desire my affections. Physically, yeah we are having lots of fun, but its the expectations that I have that leave me constantly weepy and sad. It is what it is, I knew that from the beginning, but somehow thought I could handle it. . .but the fact remains I am keeping myself in a situation where I am unable to open up to the possibility of a relationship with someone who is looking for the same thing. Most people have their nights of passion with younger men, then move on. . mine moved in!

I do it to myself, and I have no business lamenting on that fact. I accepted him into my life, I allow him to come and go as he pleases. I set these expectations that will never be met. Perhaps its time for a time out for me from the stress of the job, the lack of artistic release, lack of sleep. My bosses tell me that I will be getting a break between gigs. . .oh, which reminds me. . .my next gig! I received an email from my boss last week stating that my next gig will finally allow me to travel to places other than Baltimore. Specifically San Diego and Ann Arbor, MI. It is a 6 month gig, and during those six month, I will be travelling 1 week a month to San Diego, 1 week a month to Ann Arbor then working from home the other two weeks a month. Not too shabby. This is the test of whether I am able to do this or not. I am looking forward to the challenge!

Need to try to get this updated more often, specially since I don't get much opportunity to see people lately. Pretty good weekend this weekend. Had a nice dinner in Annapolis with some friends, then hit a little wine bar Downtown. . .and watched all the poor people running through the downpour that hit right as we walked in, heehee.

Saw an amazing show at Freddies Beach Bar, Christopher Peterson's Eyecons. He is so amazing, his transformations from one diva to the next are hilarious, and the fact that he sings all the songs himself is so impressive!

Things with the boy are difficult to explain. Since my last blog, I have been scolded and told over and over how dumb I am, how I am just going to get hurt, how I am never going to find a boyfriend if I don't stop acting like a kid. All valid, to be sure. He's a great guy, fun to be around, we have alot in common, and he is always smiling, always happy, so in a time in my life that is filled with people yelling at me at work, stressing me out, and the only release I have is when I am not too exhausted, to head to karaoke, he is a shining point in my world. Will it last? Nah, he's not looking for a relationship. Am I going to get hurt? Well, that's inevitable at this point, after over 2 months of spending lots of time together, its hard to let that go. So, I am just relaxing about it. . . .I need to relax about something and it might was well be something that brings me happiness.

I can't believe it is October already! Sheesh! On the plus side, my project should be wrapping up this week and next, and then I should be moving on to bigger and MUCH better things (I hope). Those friends contributing their two cents, thanks. . .I appreciate it. . .and I know that I have had my heart broken over and over and over and over again, and it will continue to happen, to be sure, but one of these days I WILL pick the right guy to want to take care, who will appreciate what I have to offer, and have something to offer me back aside from laughs and fun times. Until then, why be bored? Why not have fun while I can. . . having spent a good part of this year celebate. . .it was time for some craziness! Hooray!

Has it been since June!? Good lord! Ok, so I have so much to catch up on!!!

Ok, most recent, yes I shaved my head. . .no, I'm not Kojak bald any more... . .that was a little frightening, but I am keeping it short, really short. I have moved. .. .again. . and I am STILL not in my "permanent" apartment. I signed a lease for a one bedroom apartment at the Lofts in Crystal City. . .and the tenants decided they didn't want to move out. .. so I have been living, still packed, in a temporary apartment, we have settled things legally and they are moving out on October 11th, which is when I can move in.

Work, oh don't EVEN get me started, I haven't worked less than 12 hours in a day since April, which makes auditioning IMPOSSIBLE. The last 3 weeks, I have AVERAGED 60 hours a week, for the most part its has been more like 80! Hmm, what can I catch you up on. . .ok, the guy I am seeing. . . .

Again, not the best situation. . .but GOD is he handsome, sweet and fun! For a pic, see this weeks Metro Weekly http://www.metroweekly.com/scene/?k=1067 or Washington Blade http://www.washingtonblade.com/photoalbum/albumpics.cfm?photo_id2=1966&photoalbum_id=82. .. .we were photographed together at Gay Days at Kings Dominion. . ...yes, he wears a dog collar. . . don't ask. .. .

He is 19 and yes, I know how stupid it is to get emotionally entangled with someone so young, but he satisfies my secret desire to be a Sugar Daddy. .. I know I am not financially stable enough to actually BE a sugar daddy, but meh.. .. .who cares about the details! We are having fun, and enjoying ourselves, who cares about the rest of the details.

So, sexuallly, things are A-OK! Hooray! I just wish I could get me a meager job A-OK!

Otherwise, things are what they are. I am trying to live a life without theater, which is hard. Very hard. I miss my theater friends, my connections with people on stage. But, I have a strict policy of NOT auditioniong unless I can commit whole hardedly, and with my work schedule I just can't, so I am taking classes. My voice over class sucks, but Its a class, a way to hone a skill. From there, I don't know what kind of class I will take, but I want to keep learning, sharpen my tool until I can explode back in the scene.

That's my peace. A long time in coming, but fuck, I have been so stressed/busy with work I didn't even realize Fall started!

To all of my readers. . . .I love and miss you. I hope work allows me to delve back into my theater roots soon and that life gives me more opportunity to blog.

And, it continues. . . . .so, Danny gets dragged away and we have these crazy lightning storms on Monday. . .and lightning strikes the tree in my neighbors yard, ripping the tree in two, and half fell on the Electric, Cable and Phone lines leading to my house. I didn't notice, until my an hour after I got home, I went to take out the recycling, and noticed the mess. I called the 'non emergency number" since there is a day care right behind my house and there were power lines on the grou nd. So, the fire department and police show up .. . manually turn off my power, and block the street and assess the situation, and they call Virginia Dominion Power and tape off my backyard, as if it was a crime scene.

Yeah, see the comedy? US Marshalls invade my house THEN I get my drive way blocked off my crime scene tape. . ."what must the neighbors think!?" is all I can think. So, I get home yesterday, still no power. . .lines still on the ground. . .and I call, again. "Umm, there are live wires on the ground and I am up against a day care center! Think of the children! Downed power lines and children is a recipe for disaster!" Well, that got them and by the time I was headed home from dinner, there they were re-attaching the power line. Yay!

Ok, the cable and phone lines are still lying in my back yard. . .that's no THEIR problem. I have Fios. ..a little box that controls everything. . .I don't care about the other lines, but I don't want them litering my backyard. What to do?

Email me any suggestions :)

Ok, so on to story number two.

I have a friend who had a boyfriend who then became a fiance, and he came upon rough times. I love this woman, and trust her, so I offered my spare room, temporarily, to help him out. And so, Danny moved in. He's a nice guy, one on one, in a group he's very strange. . . but I digress. He started to share with me some of his woes.. .he's on probation. . .ok, I've been there. .not proud but, yeah understand. . .no big deal.

He let me know he never finished high school. Ok, again, Tom Cruise, Michael J. Fox they never finished high school. . .what's the big deal. You make your choices and figure it out.

The next day, oh. . .I was arrested for the FIRST time when I was 15. Oh, hmm well, ok. . .he is trying to make good, get on the right track. I can help.

Actually he has only been out of jail for a total of 5 years since (he is 31!) OK, now I am concerned. Now I realize how STUPID I am, and how trusting, and how it just screws me. So, here I am having a freakin felon living with me.

Last Thursday, I was woken up by a pound on the door. . .open up!!!

I jump up and run to the door. . .its 6:00 in the morning after all. So, I open the door, and this US Marshall, with his gun drawn pushes me up against the love seat. .. ."Daniel Burch?" "Mark Lewis sir!" is my response so he gives me his hands, steadies me and says, "Is Daniel here?" I answer, honestly, "he wasn't when I went to bed, but through there" then, out comes John, Danny's best friend. . .and he says, "oh my god. . .he was on his way to turn himself in. . . " 'Um what?' I think, ok . . ."I need coffee" is all I could say, so I turned and made coffee.

Danny was dragged out of my house by 5 US Marshalls. . . .they stormed my house and dragged out my roommate. .wow, how proud am I? Ok, I have to admit. I saw my brother, Craig in him. I saw an opportunity to show a guy the good life, how it could be, something to strive for. I know how wrong that is. Craig is gone, but to see someone so similar in attitude and personality, I just lost all rational thought. So, Danny was dragged away by the cops and is in jail.

Ok, so I have alot to catch up on! First up. . . San Francisco! Hooray! The motherland!

I have to say that it is a beautiful city. So much stuff to take in. Believe it or not, I only went to one bar, briefly, in the Castro. I have to say, I have never walked so much in my life, well except maybe in Rome. We hiked, we dined, I tried Dim sum for the first time, and I think I am still not comfortable without going with someone who knows what is on those carts. And climbing Mt Tam was very awesome. The views were incredible. Seeing so much and not in a car was awesome. I must admit that my feet killed for days after I got back.
All and all a great trip. What a good time! Erik and I had a blast this year at Churchhill Downs. The crowd was huge, and the alcohol was flowing freely. No early morning Mint Juleps for me this year!! I will be posting pictures soon, but wanted to touch on some of the more memorable things this year.

Saw a good fight! These two girls were slapping each other and pulling each other's hair (all because a drunk girl knocked into this woman who was all dressed up) and they went at it, then the drunk girl's boyfriend tried to break them up and the dressed up woman's son jumped in and they started wailing on each other, THEN this random guy just jumped in and tried to break it up again, when the dressed up woman's son punched him in the nose. . .wee doggy! That's when the cops came and broke it up, and threw them all out. And where was my camera for this? Yeah, in my pocket. . .oops.

Got lots of pictures of crazy hats, and some great outfits (like this one dude who had a fake dick hanging out of his pants, hilarious) I tried to get a pic of my favorite outfit of the day, an older man with a dress shirt AND cutoff overalls, it was so classy. In fact, I saw lots of men in daisy duke cut offs. Another fun activity was the mud fight that broke out near the end of the day. Yes, just a bunch of people standing around hucking mud at each other, precious. Then there was the mud soccer game (got a couple of pics of that) and the stupid women who insisted on wearing high heels to walk around the muddy grass.

I couldn't believe I actually won money! Hooray!! I never win anything, and to have picked the winner, Big Brown, really rocked. It was sad that the runner up had to be put down after crossing the finish line, she had broken both front ankles, and there was nothing they could do, so literally, on the track, put her down. :(

That, in a nut shell, was my Kentucky Derby experience. . . can't wait for the next one!!

A new job!!

So, I have started a new job with a small company down in Vienna. So far, I am really getting a good vibe on the company. The client site I am working at is up in Maryland, but so far, not alot of traffic, hooray!! I am so anxious to jump in and start doing my thing, but with all government sites, there is a certain amount of red tape that has to be dealt with, and that is why I am working from home, again, this week. Ok, there are worse things.

I had my first kick off meeting today, and as we all sat down, I caught site of a guy across the table, and he I. It took me a good 5 minutes before I realized who he was. LOL! It was an ex! Someone I dated for a couple of months years ago. It was SO surreal to have my dating life hit my work life! I guess its bound to happen. Just another example of the ridiculous luck that I have.

2 more days until my trip to Louisville and the craziness that is the Kentucky Derby! Oh, yeah, and a new job. . . hooray! I have finally secured a new job that will challenge me, make me work (do what you say? mark? work? not chat and email all day long!?) Yes, it has finally happened, and I couldn't be more pleased about it. The new company is RightStar Systems down in Vienna, VA. Small company, but focused on the kind of work that I want to do . . .Remedy Development. I am super excited to finally have a focus, to have a career path that makes sense to me, and allows me to utilize all kinds of skills that have sat wallowing in my subconscious, waiting to break free and grow.

Not only will I be doing development, but will also be able to conduct product demo's for possible customers, teach classes on different applications, and travel. . . all over the place. . .hooray. Theater will have to take a back seat for a little while. I plan on keeping my hand in the pot, helping back stage, or on set construction, costumes something to keep in the game, and keep connected with my theater friends, but its now time for me to focus on the career.

Its a scary prospect, not acting for a while, but I think I will be ok, there's always karaoke right? Yes, I drink and carry on like a college student at times. I love my young friends. But let me set something to rest. My career is on trak, I have things well in hand and am not messing things up. That being said, I can't even begin to say how 1) happy I am for my friends 2) how depressed I am for my friends. Ok, this needs some explaining. . .I love the vitality and frivolousness of my friends. The ability to just let loose and be on any given night. I wish I could be back at that point in my life, but I am not. I need to be aware of the fact I have a govey job and need to be responsible. How responsible, well that depends.

Its no secret that I want to be back in the programming world, and I have kept my focus. Its no secret that I want to be successful in theater, again no secret. My current situation has forced me to put theater on the back burner. Good? Well, its necessary. Did I ever think that would happen, no, but in all honesty. . . I need to focus, on something . The theater thing didnt' pan out, will it ever. . . dunno, but currently no. . .I am not where I thought I would be when theater became my focus. But I do not regret it either.

I love all of my friends, both old and new. I inherently have good fortune when it comes to opening myself up to people. Sure, there are things we don't see eye to eye on, there are things I wish could be different or be more attuned with, but these are the things that grow and develop, you can't have it all at once.

I have friends that are in a world I can't be in any more, at least right now, and that breaks my heart, makes it difficult to refocus and continue on my stride. Things have happened this year that have completely messed my world up. Made me realize how I am viewed and how easily things can be pasted upon a clear relationship. I have learned how easily friendship can be co-opted and dissolved. I have learned how fragile one's reputation can be destroyed. But, this can also be viewed as a growing experience.; a way to realize how important communication, honesty and trust plays into friendships. Sometimes trust bites you in the ass, and sometimes communication gets held up and stuck in red tape, but the moral is always, communicate and trust that your communication will continue the trust that is so important in a friendship and relationship.

I have also learned that stream of consciousness verbalization never is good in a bad situation. As sad as it seems, I have learned that no one can help solidify a situation, no one can be that ear that hears your inner workings. There are situations where you have to keep it inside and make sense of it yourself before you can express things verbally. Hard lesson to know, hard lesson to learn but, unfortunately, true in my case.

No need for specifics, those who care and read will know of what I speak, but, being honest is always the best road. Putting things out there, negating what can be negating in a bad situation, I feel is ok, not great, but ok. I try to gain knowledge and understanding from my experiences, does it always work? No, sometimes it hurts like hell, makes me crazy, but I continue on and try to revere myself into something better, something more appealing.

Long post, sorry . . . lots on my mind and I needed to let it out.

Hope you understand, readers. . . .next time some happy news!!!

So, I just had to bitch about Washington Mutual credit cards for a moment. I just tried to use my card, and was told that it was reported lost or stolen. That's odd, I thought, so I called the credit card company. I was told by the Customer Service rep that the card was reported lost in 2005 and a new one was sent to me. "Well that's interesting" I said, "I just used that card 3 weeks ago to sign up on a porn site, and it was approved" which led to, "yes sir, but the credit card number you gave me was reported lost or stolen and a new one was mailed". "huh", I said, then you should put me on with a manager, because we have a problem". So, I talked to the supervisor, who told me the same thing. I said, "well this isn't all that surprising since, if I am a day late on a monthly payment, your collections department stalks me with 10-14 calls a day until I get the payment in". She said, "well I am sorry I am sending out a new card now." And I said, "so you have no explanation as to 1) who called in to say it was lost or stolen and 2) where you sent this card?" And she said, "it was sent to 912 22nd St", and I said, "well that would be interesting, especially since I just moved here in October, and wasn't here in 2005" To which she replied, "do you know someone that lived there then?" "No, I did not" So, a new card is being sent. . .which doesn't help with finishing my Christmas shopping. Oh well, the moral of the story you may ask? NEVER, EVER get a Washington Mutual card (formerly Providian).

Here's to the holiday season! That time of year that really takes a bite out of your wallet and makes you appreciate how crappy it is to be single. Work parties, friends parties, bar parties, hooray! No good drunken holiday stories to report yet, but its still early :)

Living alone again has made me realize how much I require human interaction. How much I crave company. How disappointing it is when plans fall through. And how difficult it is for me to sit at home. Its part of the whole getting comfortable with myself and relishing time alone, rather than pacing around trying to figure out how to stop thinking about how lonely and depressed I am because no one is around to hang out with me. Silly really. With so much going on, the small amount of down time I have should be about touching base with friends and family, relaxing and catching up on tv/housework/etc. instead of wasting time focusing on things that aren't broken, just temporarily out of order.

Happy Holidays!

Another year closer to 40.

Phew, it doesn't seem possible that I am 38! Seems like only yesterday that I was graduating from college and planning to move to Seattle or LA. Oh well, funny how things change as the years go on. Life has a funny way of keeping you on your toes.

Haven't posted in a while, so I figured I would do some catching up. I am currently performing in an amazing show, A New Brain at Foundry Players. Top notch cast, top notch director and musical director. Just an amazing experience. To be involved in a show with a group of people who I count as my closest and dearest friends, is an experience to be savored and enjoyed. As we come to our closing weekend, I have some sadness to see this one end. Sure, I will be happy to have some free time again, hooray, but at the same time, seeing everyone every night has just been awesome.

I must admit, this years birthday started out awesome, but then just fizzled out. I rang in my new year with all said friends at my place. With rousing games of Survival Catch Phrase, a game to end all games, I sat back and glowed in the presence of all my dear friends. As the night came to a close, and I walked around cleaning things up, I got a bit melancholy. 38, still single, no real prospects, and not quite sure why. Alone.

Its easy to blame my schedule, my shyness, my freaky looking psoriasis, but a part of me thinks, maybe it is me. Maybe I am not as open as I think that I am. Maybe I am not as easy to get to know as I have always thought I was. I started down that irritating path of swirling questions, thoughts, paranoia and delusions of sadness. So, for my birthday I thrust all these disturbing thoughts aside and focused on having a great show, then went home to my empty house, cracked open a beer and watched tv. Turned down an invitation to get out and be with people, so I could wallow in my loneliness. Makes perfect sense right? Ugh. So, after a few hours of panic attacks and ridiculous self-pity, I decided I could not end my birthday on this ridiculous sad note. So, I dried my eyes and headed on down to Freddies. Hung out with some friends, and drank away my sorrows.

Another year, another chance to go after what I want and turn around these inadequate feelings.

Had to write about an awesome trip up to NYC this past weekend with my bud Sam. The trip started with a ride up on the inaugural trip of the DCtoNY bus (www.dc2ny.com), a new service with daily nonstopish trips up to NYC (we did take a short break on the way up to stretch and such, but not on the way home). It was nice, as comfortable as you can be squished on a bus, but with wireless internet service. . .what a perk! Anyway, we arrived up in NYC before our hotel room was ready, so we dropped off our bags and grabbed some food from Maxi's Delicatessen. Normally I would be PSYCHED for a hot pastrami on rye that had 1 pound of pastrami. . . the sandwich was HUGE! But, when you are trying to eat it one handed. . . mmmm, not so good. Half of the sandwich ended up falling out all over my plate, but meh. . .that's what forks are for! So, we head back to the hotel (http://www.thetimeny.com/) and, not only was our room ready, but because of the wait, they upgraded us to a suite! Hooray! So, we checked in and went our separate ways, me to meet up with an old college friend for Happy Hour and Sam to hang with an old college friend of his.

I walked up to Bamboo 52, a place my friend Molly picked out. Nice little sushi bar/lounge with a kickin outdoor patio. We caught up and talked about how fabulous we looked, all very NY, and were joined by my friend Erin. Oh, about 4 mojito's later, we decided to head over to the Improv festival that was going on at Upright Citizens Brigade Theater (http://www.delclosemarathon.com/). Basically, it was 72 straight hours of Improv starring groups from around the country. It was fun. I was excited to see Ed Helms' (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1159180/) puppet show (he plays Andy on The Office), and just to be around such a diverse group of people. After 4 hours of back to back improv shows, it was time for bed.

Saturday we headed out to breakfast and then up to Central Park to try to see the Natural History Museum (the one from A Night in the Museum) before seeing Grey Gardens. Alas, between the long line to get in and the short amount of time we had, we opted to simply walk around Central Park, checking out the Belvedere Castle (http://www.centralparknyc.org/virtualpark/thegreatlawn/belvederecastle) and just the beauty that is Central Park, then off to Grey Gardens! All and all it was an awesome show. Brilliant performances and haunting music (ok, some hilarious songs as well, I still can't get "Revolutionary Costume for Today" out of my head!) From there it was back to the hotel to relax before heading back out for more improv. I decided to take a bath, since Sam had plans with a friend, and as I relaxed in the tub, letting the jets release some of the tension from all the walking we did, I heard some movement outside the door. I figured Sam had come back to show off the suite, and just relaxed. I got out of the tub, threw on a towel and walked out to see that the maids had been in to turn down the sheets and turn on some mood music/lighting. Weird. I have never stayed in a 4-star hotel, so some of the little amenities were a bit foreign to me. Anyway, headed back down to the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater for more improv. My friend's group, Bastian (www.myspace.com/bastianimprov). They were hilarious, and I was so psyched for my friend Molly. Then, off to the gay bars! We started out at Barrage, had a fun time, but not very crowded, so we headed off to the next bar, Posh, where we met up with a few of Sam's friends from college. Posh was not too crowded either so, we continued on our journey to Therapy. Not a bad place, nice layout. . .but again, pretty dead. Where were all the gay boys!? So, again we left and headed to a Russian themed bar (the name escapes me) where we finished off our evening and headed back to the hotel.

Sunday morning we met one of Sam's old roommates for brunch then walked around Times Square, anxiously awaiting the house opening for Xanadu. We hit Toys-R-Us and walked around for an hour or so, taking in all of the toys, video games and Barbies (yeah, I said barbies. . .jealous?) After seeing all we could, we headed back out to discover that the rain had begun, and our umbrella's were back at the hotel. . .oh well . . .so we walked from awning to awning, checking out people, one of whom, an older woman with short grey hair and a smart business suit was umm, seated? under an awning in a position that, well here is a picture:

We walked by her 2 or three times, trying to determine is she was wearing underwear or not. Next up. . .XANADU! The show was hilarious! We had on stage seating ,which meant that we were right up there with the actors. I HIGHLY recommend on stage seating if you go to see this show. The acting was awesome, and the dancing/music incredible. I can't say enough about this show. . .I absolutely loved it and HAVE to go see it again. Afterwards, we hopped on the bus to head home.

I saw Washington Shakespeare Company's Macbeth last night. It was interesting, to say the least. Their concept was to do the entire show in the nude. All nude, the entire time. I have to say. . .the guy playing MacBeth. . .good looking man with a very nice penis, however, whenever he spoke, his right testicle would rise up, and when he stopped talking, it would drop. . making his whole package giggle. It was SO distracting. I couldn't pay attention to anything else!

Also, as you can imagine in a space with little to no A/C, by the start of Act 2, a general locker room odor was permiating throughout, granted I was in the second row. . .

One of the men, REALLY needs to trim as it appeared he did not have a penis at all. I really felt bad for him. And finally, one of the young skinny boys went half mast during one of the scenes, making it all worth it.

Acting-wise, I thought it was ok. . its hard to differentiate when they are playing different characters when they are naked. They didn't do a very good job of physically changing their stances or posturing when transitioning from character to character. And, the vocal noises they would make when off stage was pretty distracting to me.

All I can say is WOW! It was a perfect late afternoon for a concert. A little hot, but all and all a great day. I was starting to feel the effects of no sleep as we arrived at Merriweather. Some friends of my friend had gotten there early and was holding a spot for us on the lawn, so we leisurely made our way through the crowds, and food stations and found our spot. Excellent spot, dead center, in front of the stage (well as close as you can get, while on the lawn). I met our fellow concert goers, and headed down to grab a drink. It was amusing to me that, Merriweather, an out door venue, had a "strict no smoking" policy. Oh rubbish! We walked around and found a secluded spot to suck down a cigarette and headed back to the blanket. As we walked through, I couldn't help but notice people sitting around smoking on the lawn, oh ok, I thought, guess we can just smoke anywhere then. So, we hung out and got to know our new friends for a while, and out comes Margaret Cho. . .hooray!! She was a great MC, did a bit of comedy as the first band set up. The band was The Gossip, and I must say I had never heard of them before. They were a bit angry, but still enjoyable. They did about 4 songs, and then exited. More Margaret Cho, hooray!! The next band that played was Dresden Dolls. Now, I had heard of them, but could not think of what song I knew. Whatever song it was, they didn't play it. The drummer was pretty hot, he started out the set wearing a long white night gown, and mime like makeup. By the end of the first song, off came the night gown, and he was left wearing boxer briefs and Renaissance style tights. HOT! They also did a 4 song set, and then we got to watch a little Movie, well, they showed a movie, we went off to smoke and grab another beer. After the short movie, my boy Rufus Wainwright took the stage. He performed with a full orchestra, well. . fullish, about 8 people. His songs were really good, though I was not very familiar with his newer stuff. As he announced his last song, we were treated to a surprise appearance by Cindi! The music started on Gay Messiah, and he started the vocals. At the first chorus, Cindi piped up and the two of them continued the song. It sounded incredible! After his set, we got a few more minutes of Margaret Cho, and then it was Deborah Harry's turn to rock the stage. I wish she had rocked the stage. After the first half of her first song, we decided it was time to grab some food. So, we headed over to the picnic area, ate some crappy food, and had some beer and a smoke. I was disappointed that Deborah Harry was kinda lame. I only recognized one song that she did, what the name of that song is, I couldn't tell ya.

Once she finished, Cindi came back out to introduce a video about the Matthew Shepard fund, in support of a Hate Crime bill that includes gays, lesbians and transgendered people. I am SO not political, but I promised my self to learn more about this bill . . if you want to learn about it, or show your support go here http://www.hrcactioncenter.org/campaign/matthew_shepard_act_dfa
After the video, Rosie O'Donnell took the stage. She was pretty funny, but a good majority of her act was devoted to Donald Trump. I guess it was funny to hear her side, and how it affected her family and stuff, but come on. . .that is SO yesterday! But, I give her props, she was funny. Ok. . . at long last, Erasure took the stage next. They were AWESOME!! Andy Bell came onstage in a jacket with Deborah Harry's pic on the back. It was a great tribute to her. They started the set with a couple of songs from their new CD, Light at the End of the World, good stuff, will have to download it. Then, the crowd freaked out when they went into Ship of Fools from The Innocents. Sounded amazing! I must say that they really worked the crowd. The rest of their set was all older songs (Chains of Love, Blue Savannah, Drama, Love to Hate You) and then, they played it. . the song that we all craved, A Little Respect. The crowd went CRAZY! They ended their set with Oh L'amour. I was kind of disappointed that that was their last song, but still they kicked ass!!!!!

After they cleared, they showed a Margaret Cho short, and she did a little skit. We decided to grab one last drink and smoke before Cindi. Cindi strolled onto stage wearing a Rainbow colored hat, and a fabulous Bustier and funky black dress with flowers on it. She started her set with Good Enough (from the Goonies) and the crowd ate it up. From there, she grabbed a guitar and rocked out on some of her newer stuff. I can't remember which song it was, but after 3 songs, she said she had a surprise for us, and called Rosie out on stage. Rosie took a space behind a drum set and went to town! She was pretty good! So, Cindi continued, with Rosie on the drums. I honestly can't think of any of the songs she did after that point, they all rocked and we danced to all of them, but I can't recall them right now. . . .so, she finished up her set, and then she called everyone back onstage. Everyone came out, except Rufus and Deborah. . I guess they had to leave, or just didn't feel like it. . .but, they ended the concert singing, yup you guessed it, True Colors. Even Margaret Cho got to sing, and she sounded great! Cindi played the Sitar, and Rosie gave a light beat in the back ground, but that was the only instruments used. It was BEAUTIFUL!

I drove us back to Crystal City, and we decided to stop in to Freddies, how on earth I was still standing is beyond me. . .remember, no sleep? So, I hung as long as I could at Freddies, drinking coke so didn't fall asleep on the drive home, then headed back to my place. . .ahhhhhhh sleep.

As is expected, another exciting update on my summer off from doing shows. Had quite the weekend, and thought I would share some of the highlights here. It started out pretty mellow, left work on Friday to meet up with the real estate agent for another round of condo shopping. I am not sure why, but it seems that all of the places that I have been looking at don't seem to take into account the need for a sofa in the living room. It kind of amazes me. Sure, I could fit a sofa into most of them, but that would be about it, no tables, not shelves, not alot of decorating potentials. Sure, I am resigned to the fact that I will be downsizing, that in my price range, there are not going to be any places that would be comparable to the apartments I have had, but still. . .if nothing else. . .I need 1) to have room for a sofa and some sort of dining room arrangement 2) a normal person tub, not these ridiculous apartment size semi-tubs. That being said, I saw a couple of places I could make work, but nothing that screamed. . this is mine!! From there I met a friend for dinner at Tabaq Bistro on U Street. Good food, and company. From there, I dashed home to change and await my ride to the Guerilla Queer Bar being held at Tony and Joe's in Georgetown. Now, I had heard a little about this event, but had never attended. The basic premise, gather as many gay folks as you can, and descend upon a straight bar. From this understanding, I thought of it as a competition. Let's see if we can gather more gays at a straight bar than straight people. Yeah, silly, I know. I was standing there in the middle of silicon and metrosexual central thinking, where is the score board? Are the gays winning? We hung out there for a while, then decided we had had enough, and made our way back to the Dupont area. On our way, we received a call from a friend of my friend who invited us to go and hang out at his place. Perhaps it was the alcohol, or perhaps it was the lack of details on why we were going to this person's house, but the mere mention of hot tub sent a message to my brain saying. .hooray! Its a sex party! Alas, no. . .it was not. It was just a mellow hanging out and relaxing kind of situation. Oh well. So, we hung out at this GORGEOUS 3-level row home in the U St area, with a 2 tiered roof top deck, one of the tiers housing the hot tub. Did we ever get in the hot tub, alas, no. It just sat there, teasing me the entire time. From there, we headed home. Ahhhhh, sleep.

Saturday was a packed day for me, as I had carefully scheduled out many activities to accomplish in not alot of time. 1) Pick up rental car 2) head to Baltimore to take Dad out for Father's Day 3) be back in DC in time to meet friends for dinner and Show in Old Town. Seems simple enough, right? Well, I went to print off my confirmation for my rental car, when I discovered that i had selected 1:30, instead of 11:30. So, I call the rental car place and ask if I could pick up the car earlier, no dice. Damn you Hotwire!! So, that shortened my time with Dad, immensely. So, I head to the airport to get the car, and arrive at the counter to find a ridiculously long line. I hop in and stand there and wait, and wait, and wait. I then decide to get my paperwork ready, and am horrified to realize that after trying to re-arrange my reservation, I had neglected to print off my reservation, and did not have my confirmation number. So, I frantically text my friends to see if they were home, and could access my email for me to get the confirmation number. Found someone, phew. . .got that, so I relax abit and wait, and wait, and wait. I arrive at the counter at 3:30, I had since called my dad to reschedule, as there was no way I could get up there, do something with him and get back in time for dinner. . .so, that part was out. I finally got the car, and headed home to shower and change for the evening. I head to dinner with my BF(M)F's at Bilbo Baggins. Had a lovely onion soup and a chicken dish with a chicken breast stuffed with feta cheese and dill, served on egg noodles with a garlic oil. Quite good. From there it was off to see Philadelphia Story at LTA. I have to say that my friend Sam kicked ass on stage. He was so charming, relaxed and natural on that stage, it brought a smile to my face every time he appeared. The show is good, the performances are a bit uneven, but all and all an enjoyable evening.

After the show we descended upon Shirlington for some post show drinks. I am not sure how we end up at Capital City Brewery so often. Its an ok place, but I have never been there where there hasn't been so sort of tension or frustration and this night was no different. We started out having to deal with the bitchiest hostess I have ever encountered. But, once seated we were able to enjoy the remainder of our evening. From there, I dropped some friends off at the metro and headed to Freddies for last call. I met up with my buddies, and upon the closing of the bar was invited back for an after hours party. So, of course I had to go! We went back and drank some more, chatted and just hung out for the remainder of the early mornings. At around 6 am, I took a few people back to their cars at Freddies, and headed back to my place to watch a movie with a couple of my friends. We popped in Hedwig, but decided it was a little slow, so we played some board games instead. Pretty fun, we lost one at around 7:00 am, and then we headed back to my friends place to drop off his keys and hang a bit longer. We sat around and chatted and just hung out for a while, then at 1:30 pm, we headed into Crystal City for coffee at Caribou Coffee (no, I did not leave out when I slept, I didn't sleep. . .at all!!). After coffee, I headed home for a shower and to change, then my friend came over and we headed out to. . . . . . the TRUE COLORS concert!

Saturday, the big Day at Magic Kingdom! Hooray!

We started out Saturday getting picked up at the Resort, and heading to breakfast. After breakfast we went to the Magic Kingdom. We started out watching the show at Cinderella's Castle. . .and we were told that there is a drinking game that goes along with the song they sing. Any time you hear the word "Dream" you had a drink. As I listened I was honestly sickened at the number of times "Dream" was used, and told him that I don't think I would make it through a single verse, never mind the entire song!! After the show, we made our way towards Space Mountain, our friend asked if I could see what the wait time was for the ride, as I squinted and stared at the sign, I neglected to notice the family of ducks that was crossing in front of me, nor the little girl that was cooing over the baby ducks, just as I was about to cross their path, JR grabs my shoulder and says "Duck", naturally I think something is flying out me, so I flinch and kicked out with my right foot, catching one of the baby ducks with my foot and sending it bouncing away. Fear not, the duckling merely bounced a couple of feet and ran off to join its family. The little girl however was HORRIFIED that I had kicked the duck, and began to cry. Nice, way to scar the little girl at Disney. So, away from Space Mountain we went. We stopped and got a fast pass for the Buzz Lightyear ride, and headed to Frontier land.

We walked around Frontier land, and I had my eyes peeled to try to get some pictures of the Gay Bears with the Country Bears, but alas I was not so lucky to lay my eyes upon that site. . woulda been a fun picture though :-) In Frontier land we met up with another Disney cast member, and rode the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad ride and the jungle cruise, which was pretty funny! The tour guide was very punny. . . she made me laugh. After the Jungle cruise, we made our way back to Future land, where we went on the Buzzlightyear ride, then onto Space Mountain! Hooray! At long last I finally got ride!! After a quick lunch in Futureland, we headed to Main Street for the parade. We met up with more Disney Cast Members, and hopped a squat near the end of the parade route. It was so much fun to be able to enjoy the parade with cast members who knew people in the parade, and have lots of characters come right up to us. Hooray!! After the parade, we walked over to Disney's Contemporary Resort and had some drinks, then it was back to the Resort for some downtime.

After relaxing for a bit, we headed over to TGI Fridays to meet up with a couple of our Disney friends, had a couple of drinks then off to MGM for the big festivities, the One Mighty Weekend party. We arrived, and headed straight over to the stadium where they old the Lights, Motors Action show. We settled into the seats and prepared outselves for the hilarious Kathy Griffin. She started out really funny, and as the show progressed, the speakers suddenly went out, and we could no longer hear what she was saying. So we started chanting louder, louder, louder. . .until they were able to fix the audio problems. From that point on, it seemed to have thrown her and she seemed to lose track of what she had been talking about. We hung out in the stadium until they had cleared the rest of the park of familes, then we were let loose onto MGM Studios! First stop, the Tower of Terror. Now, being that my Disney friend worked in the park, we were able to skip over all the lines, and enter from the back. Woohoo! I was SO happy to have made these friends, not only were they awesome to hang out with, but these kind of perks definately helped make it a fantastic experience! So, through the back door and onto the ride. What a fun ride! Hooray! So, we meet back up with JR, and we get some drinks and hang out for a bit. .then off to Rock n' Roller Coaster! We convinced JR to ride with us, and he did. . and he was fine! So, after that we walked around and headed to the Star Wars Ultimate Thrill Ride, which was meh. . just ok. Oh, yeah, did I mention on top of Gay Days weekend, it was also the start of Weekends? So, we had the Gays and the Stars Wars freaks coexisting in the same park. . but I digress. After the Star Wars ride, we headed back to Tower of Terror for another ride, this time with JR. "Not Bad", he says after we forced him into going on it.

After that, we decided to ride the Rock n' Roller Coaster shirtless! Not quite sure why we thought that would be fun, but meh. . it was fun! I even bought the picture! When we emerged, Donna Summer was on, so we headed back down to catch her show. She's still quite good! Then the fireworks display. I almost creamed myself when I hear, coming out of the Speakers. . .XANADU! Hooray!!! Excellent fireworks display!! After that, the show was pretty much done, so we decided to head out. I said my good byes to my awesome new friends at Disney and headed back to the Resort. I left the next morning.

Friday morning, I caught a quick nap, and then off to Epcot again for our passes. Friday the gays were descending upon MGM Studios park, so we decided to go to the Magic Kingdom to hit some of the rides we wanted to ride before the gays took over that park on Saturday. I decided we should ride the Monorail over to Magic Kingdom, so we hopped on at Epcot and had a nice leisurely ride. We got to the stop, and I, not realizing there is only one stop, we didnt' get off, and ended up looping back around to Epcot. Weeeeee! When we stopped at Epcot, the door to our car didn't open, odd, so we just sat there and watched all these people pile into the other car. So, there JR and I were, sitting there all comfy, and about 15 people were all crammed into the other side, LOL! Poor people. Anyway, we got to the Magic Kingdom and decided to have lunch. After lunch, we headed on over to the Haunted Mansion. Its a cute ride, the cast was pretty creepy, so that helped with the experience. From there, it was off to Pirates of the Carribean! Hooray! Its a darn cool ride, although I must say that with the addition of Jack Sparrow, the other pirates look kind of dated, still cool. . don't get me wrong, but the Jack Sparrow character was SO life like! After that we decided to save the rest of the rides for Saturday, and we headed on over to MGM. MGM is a cool park, not a heck of alot of rides, but lots of sites to see!! We went on the Great Movie Ride, which was fun, up until the point where the battery in the car we were riding in went dead. We thought she was kidding, because there were portions of the ride were we got "stuck" in different film sets, but of course we got stuck in the room with Fantasia, and it was only about a 10 second clip, so we sat there for a good 5-10 minutes watching the same clip over and over again. So, we saw some cast members come out from behind the curtains to try to fix the car, and then they went back to behind the curtain, which was pretty funny considering the next room was the Wizard of Oz. . heehee. So, after that we walked on over to the Journey Into Narnia: Creating The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe attraction. After that, and we decided to bag the park, since it was starting to drizzle pretty steadily, damn you Tropical Storm Barry!!!! So, back to the resort we went. After a short, much needed nap, we grabbed some dinner and headed on over to the Beach Ball at Typhoon Lagoon. By this time, it was steadily raining and the temperature was beginning to drop, but we didn't care. So, we got in, grabbed some drinks and walked around. Lots of speedos let me tell you. And, for a change, it was people I actually WANTED to see in speedos, for the most part. Lots of pretty boys running around and frolicking in the rain. We ended up at one of the bars by the tidal pool, and met some guys who were just chilling out. They invited us to hang out under their umbrella, so we joined them. Pretty cool guys, one was paramedic at Disney, and the other two were visiting. At one point they all decided to go into the tidal pool, to warm up (since the water was much warmer than the rain). I, in my board shorts, and JR in his cute little bathing suit, waded out, until I realized that I was holding both of our cell phones, so I came out and sat back down under the umbrella. While they frollicked, I just kind of hung out. I walked over to the bar and was chatting up this cute boy, who invited me on a walk. So, we walked out into the woods, and he proceeded to start making out with me, up against a tree. . .all very romantic, in the rain and all, then he asks me if I have any tina. . ok, ugh. . . so, I pushed him off, and headed back to the umbrella. JR came back out, and we walked around for a bit, but the weather was becoming more and more nasty, so we decided to head out. We walked up to the line to get a taxi and started chatting with some Australian guys. They invited us back to their hotel, the Host Hotel, and we accepted. So, we head up to their place, have a few drinks, and this gorgeous Brazillian boy comes to the door asking for a towel. So, of course, we went out into the hall to talk to him. Suddenly, the door opens, and these two gorgeous and naked, brazillian boys come running out into the hall, tickling each other. They chased each other around for a few minutes than ran back into the room. What fun!! At this point, they decided to get ready for the after party, so JR and i went back to the Resort, and I decided to call it a night.

We started out our day at Epcot (I made the mistake of walking around all day calling it Epcot Center, which our Disney friends found quite amusing). JR's Disney friend arranged us to meet up with a friend of his to get free tickets to the park, he was really cute and from Italy. . anyway. . I liked Epcot, not a heck of alot to do, but it was fun walking through the countries and we went on Honey I Shrunk the Audience and the Nemo Ride. Mostly we walked around, and drank. After lunch, we left and went to Animal Kingdom, which I found kinda boring. The only ride we went on was Dinosaur, which was interesting, but kinda slow. After that, we met up with JR's Disney friend at TGI Fridays, and met some more Disney cast members. So, we hung out with them, and then we all headed over to Pleasure Island for the big Gay party. They had the party set at Mannequins, and the line was ridiculously long. So, we went to 8Trak first, which is a 70's disco. Had a lot of fun there, and a friend and I started to well, get friendly. From there, we went to Motion, which was hosting a "Red Party" We walk in, and there is this attractive woman on stage standing in a Plastic Bubble. I kid you not! She was wearing a bikini and heels and was just walking back and forth across the stage in her bubble. I really wanted her to run, because it just look so much like a gerbil ball. So we are standing there talking, my friend and I, and all of a sudden they started dropping red pom-pom balls from the ceiling! It was hilarious!! I was like, what the!? So, we decided to exit, and headed over to Mannequins. my friend knew the door man, so we got to go around the back and get let in without waiting in line, hooray! So, we get inside, and Mannequins has this rotating dance floor, but it was SO crowded that there was no room to dance, so it was like a big gay lazy susan, with all these shirtless men just going round and round I was like, I will take one of him, and one of him and one of him. . .lol! So, after some men gazing, my friend and I headed over to his place. We had some fun, and he drove me back to the Resort at around 5:30 in the morning. . .

I arrived in at the Disney All Star Sports Resort at about 10:30 Wednesday night, and headed straight to the hotel. Upon arrival, JR was at the little bar talking to a group of people. So, I walked over with all my luggage, and he bought me a drink, and we began to chat with these random strangers. A straight couple from New York, and a cute navy boy from Norfolk, VA. We chatted, and chatted and finally I was like, dude I have been travelling all day, I would really like to change my clothes and get rid of my luggage, so we decided to head to the room. We drop off my luggage, I change, and we head back down to the bar where we decide to drag the group off to Pleasure Island. So, we jump on a bus and head to Raglan Road™ Irish Pub and Restaurant. And they were calling Last Call, so I had a beer and a shot and we walked over to a cigar bar. We had a couple more drinks and then headed back to the Resort and to bed.

My apologies, for anyone who actually reads this dribble, I have posted in a while. I have been a bit busy. Busy, reconnecting with people, keeping my connections and otherwise just trying to live. Living is tough. Anyone will tell you that, single or taken. I have come to realize a few things about my situation that both bum me out, but at the same time are expected. I am not a young dude anymore, and as such, when I go out and over do it, I am viewed as a drunken old man. No, I am not an old man, but let's be real, let's look at the community at hand and realize that this is the impression I am giving off.

K, I am older. I have a comfortable lifestyle, one that affords me the abilty to do things my younger friends can't do, or can with some motiviation. I say this only because I feel bad. I feel like, I am wasting time going out and meeting people, who quite honestly, I will have to meet a few times before we recognize each other. Are these really the people I want to spend time with? The answer is no. I have bar friends, those I care about and like to hang out with. And then there are the teases, those who flirt and kiss and grab, but really, view me as a fun older dude to hang out with and flirt, but nothing more. Sometimes that hurts. Sometimes, that makes me feel ridiculously lonely and pathetic.

I go to JR's with friends, who lately make me feel like a third wheel. I go to Freddies and feel like the town drunk, who everyone loves to hang out with, drink with, share stories with but, really wouldn't be caught dead with outside the bar.

Sometimes, emotions just get out of my control and I create these ridiculous storylines to perpetuate my depression and self loathing. What is true and what isn't. Its hard for me to tell sometimes. I am loved, and I love so many of my friends, those friends I have shared such intimate things with. Nothing is more intimate than to be onstage, sharing moments with friends and havign stories to share afterwards. Those relationships, I am confident and true to. But, I try to hard to maintain non-theater friendships too. That is where the difficulty lies.

I garner alot of affection at Freddies. I know people truly like me, and I appreciate that so much, this is the truth. But, isn't there always a but?, I also feel like the time I spend at Fredddies, stunts my ability to meet potential dates. Ruins my chances of getting someone's number and actually calling for a date. Dry spells are the norm, and I certainly have had my share.

So, I have closed yet another show, Thoroughly Modern Millie. What a fun time I had working on this one. So many good friends, both old and new! Don't know how I am going to fill my time now. There is always that post show period of separation anxiety I get after spending 8 solid weeks with the same people. Its a blessing and a curse. On the flip side, I am happy to have an opportunity to reconnect with my "non theater" friends who have given up on trying to hang out because I was always in rehearsal or a show. I am looking forward to a busy and fun summer. Lots of stuff to do, and hopefully some refreshing beach weekends lie ahead!

Had a great visit with an old college friend over the weekend. Its amazing to reconnect, and fall into the old habits we had during college. . lol! She really opened my eyes to some things that never really made sense to me before. As an example, I was telling her about the time I brought my parents to Brickskeller, a wonderful hole-in-the-wall bar/restaurant in northern Dupont that boasts the largest selection of beer in the world. Beer you say? I figured my dad would LOVE that! So, we go there and he orders a bud. . . a BUD, I was so mortified!? But, Amy reminded me that sometimes my parents generation don't like to make decisions like that. They like the familiar, and when they go to the store, pretty much all they have to choose from is bud, miller or coors. And seeing 1000's of beers was just too much. I give her credit, she really has a knack for smacking me back into reality.

Ah spring time in the District. The lovely cherry blossoms, the ridiculous amounts of tourist wandering aimlessly, looking for the Tidal Basin metro stop, be still my beating heart. Its that time of year for me to take a look at my life, and try to make some positive changes. Some people have New Year's resolutions, I try to have rebirth resolutions. Sounds all new age and stuff, but its really not. Every year I make a decision to try to have the best summer ever, and so far, I think this one could be. Gay days in Disney for a start at the end of May, hooray for sexed up queens wandering drunk through America's most wholesome amusement park.

Hooray for getting the second of 3 credit cards paid off, in full. . .0 balance! I NEVER thought I would see that day. A time for rebirth and for new adventures. I decided to start this spring off with attending a drag show. I will, however, refrain from citing which drag show.

My expectations were low to begin with, thank god since even the lowest expectations could not prepare me for what was to come. The show started with a line up of drag queens, pretty much strutting through the bar and lip syncing (some good, most badly) to a song (the name of the song escapes me). I understand that drag performance is lip syncing. . and that's fine, but at least know the words! From there we got into the actual "numbers". Now, I have been to some pretty good drag shows in DC, and some great ones in Baltimore. I understand the hard work that goes into the numbers, the costumes, choreography and the like, and just wanted to say to some of these drag queens, "go see how it should be done!" Ok, some examples you say? Here you go. . . .

One of the numbers, Cher's Strong Enough, was done by a rather large drag queen (which is fine, really) dressed in a Madonna-esque wig and, I kid you not, a cow print, skin tight dress. Now, ok. . .I can understand wanting to do something interesting with you costume, but at least pick something that Cher would actually wear! I mean, if you are not going to do a Cher hairstyle, at least pick a dress that doesn't look like something off of a sofa in a rodeo bar! Next up, another large drag queen, who fancies herself Lypsinka, and tried to do a montage of Mommie Dearest moments stitched with music clips from Whitney Houston. I give you props for attempting, but make sure you know the words to your skit before attempting it.

Were they all bad? No, there were some good moments as well. One of the drag queens lipsanc (is that a word?) to a Mo'nique stand up routine that was hilarious. I probably won't be back for another show, but hey. . at least I tried something new right?

Yet another drunken blog. . . i love to blog when I drink apparently. Ok, here goes.

I had an awesome night at Freddies, the gang was there, I even got to meet one of my friend's parents. How fun is that!? I enjoyed hanging with everyone, and just had a good time. I even re-connected with someone I was attracted to, who is a flight attendent, and isn't in town very much. So, I hung with him, hung with my friends. . had a good time.
I realize that I am a sexual being, its really not something I have much control over, it just is. I seem to exude sex to people. I wish I could bottle it up, and save it for certain occasions but. . .I digress. So, I had a good time, hanging out with my friends. One friend in particular who, I must admit, I am quite smitten with, but who is not at a point that he can deal with someone's affections, so I stay a friend, and hope for a time when I can get through.
Ok, so, the flight attendent, yes. . .back to him, we flirt, chat and what not. And he decides he has to go, he grabs me and says, you coming? I have a fleeting moment of. . .oh, ok. . but decide, no, I need to go home, so I say, not tonight dude, I need to grab some sleep. So, he leaves and I hang with my friends, get my check, and say my good byes.
I walk outside, and who is standing out, in the rain, soaking wet, but mr. flight attendent. I'm like, what are you doing!? He says, waiting for you. I'm like, dude, you need to go home as do I. So, I share my umbrella with him, and walk him home. We get to his building and he puts his arm around me and says, come on in. I try to decline, and he says, dude, come on. . its cold and rainy, lets just hang out for a bit. Huh, why does that work on me?!
So, I go in. . .and he takes me to his room, for the night ,and starts to undress. Ok, I have had enough to drink that i go along with it. So, things progress, and suddenly he is like, I want you inside me. . .lubes himself, and me, and goes right into it. . .I'm like, umm. . .condom dude! So, he. . much preturbed. . is like, oh. . ok, let me see what I can find. . . and gets up and walks around the room, looking, meanwhile, I am doing my best to stay in the situation. . .he finally finds one and helps me out with it, it snaps (ok, I honestly think he did it on purpose but. . whatever) so, he looks for another and says, nah, can't find one. . . so, I'm like, well no then. So, he comes back and starts back up. He then tries to slip it in, and I am like, umm. . no condom, and I am NOT up for that tonight, so he goes to work on himself, and wham bam, is done. . then he is up and getting dressed, oh. . .um, ok. So, I do the same. And he walks me to the door and says, walk safe, then turns and makes a phone call.
Huh. That's all I can think, is huh. I know that I suck at the fact that I am easily persuaded in this respect. And that I more often than not disobey my brain, and do what I know is stupid and wrong. Its stupid, I know. And, I long for someone who just wants to exchange numbers and actually chat, go out to dinner, chat some more and acutally build something. Actually make the time to get to know me. Why is that so hard!?
It is what it is. I don't apologize for my actions, I have fun, however, that fun is tired. Its old news. I long for something more real, more respectible. How does one find that? Does one even look for that? I don't know. I can only assume that because of my inability to steer clear of the playa's, I am not in the same playing field as those that I so desperately long to meet.
It sucks to answer your own questions with the facts and STILL go against what you want for instant gratification, but alas, that seems to be my pattern of late.
Ugh, back to depressing posts. . sorry readers, I will have happier posts soon.

So, I went to see The Full Monty at Toby's Dinner theater in Baltimore today. I went with a group of friends who had done a production in Rockville, that I was, unfortunatley, not able to see. I like the show. The songs are catchy, the story is great. And, I must say, I was fortunate to see and old friend perform. Heather, a very old friend who I have much respect for, who I have missed greatly, was in the show. She ROCKED! I love the fact that I have such great luck with friends. My friends, those I share my life with, are so talented it is crazy. And, even though we haven't seen each other in years, and years, we literally picked up where we left off when last we saw each other. We haven't aged, she looks just as young and hot as the first time I saw her, and I feel like I am just as goofy and blonde as the last she saw me. It was an amazing feeling. Just to be able to reconnect with my past, a past that is so foreign to me now. A past where I honest thought I was straight, a past where I honestly thought that I could love, marry and settle down with a girl. Heather, this goes out to you. You are AWESOME, and I hope you keep in touch.

I would say, go see The Full Monty for her, she is incredible.!

So, as I mentioned before, I am doing a show that requires me to tap. . .woohoo! And, I had bought tap shoes for a production I did of Anything Goes a few years back, but never put the taps on. I'm such a big cheater that way, anyway, I took my shoes in to get the taps put on, and the guy doing intake just kept looking at me like I was crazy. I had to take everything out of all the boxes and show him what to do to put them on, and he kept asking if I wanted to make them not slippery. I'm like they are tap shoes! I just want the taps put on!

I'm so happy I have windows in my new office. It so nice to just stare out the window and watch the snow fall. Who wants to read about that!?" So, today is nothing but happy thoughts and butterflies. Ugh, ok not really but, I am having a good day thus far, and I know it will only get better. Only one meeting today, hooray! And dance rehearsal tonight, hooray! Life is rolling along like a freight train of late, could have something to do with my inability to slow down for a few minutes and relax. I am rehearsing my third show in a row. . yes, I am a glutton for punishment, but this one is a show I just couldn't miss. For one, my favorite production team is assembled for another show, almost all of my closest friends together again and tap dancing, yes you read correctly, I have to tap dance. LOL! That thought just keeps me in stitches.

As I am plowing through my mid thirties into my late thirties. . ugh again! I keep wondering how it is that I continue to hang out until late at night, get up ridiculously early, and still function. I guess i shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, but I always thought there would come a time where I would suddenly need relaxation time. That I would require down time. Meh, someday the old ticker will be like, "ok dude, you can't keep hanging out at the bar and staying up until 2 in the morning playing video games on a week night" But until then, party on dude! :-)

The Fun Continues!

So, I previously blogged my update for 2007, and by God I need to be better at updating this thing. Especially with my currently crazy schedule. Yes, the fun continues on the teeth front. Since the fateful night, I have had to revisit my dentist 9 times. Yup, 9! For some reason, the adhesive they use for the temporary teeth just won't take on one of them, so it keeps falling out, which is oh so lovely. I mean, should I be performing a stage version of Deliverence, I would fit right in, but the lovely hole left in smile makes me look more like Cletus the slack jawed yokel than an uptight Manhattanite (which is the character I play in the current production of Mary, Mary at Foundry Players). But, i digress. The show is going very well. I am fitting more and more into the role. As my friend pointed out opening weekend, there was a little bit too much Mark and not enough Bob (that's the role I play) so, I have really been trying to focus more and escape the Markisms and let Bob come out more and more. By Sunday, I was feeling a lot less like myself, and more like an actual character.

I also attended the first read thru for the next show, Thoroughly Modern Millie, a Washington Community Theater Premiere! Hooray! And I couldn't be happier. To be surrounded by so many old and good friends. It is so exciting to know that i will be able to hang out and be around my close friends for the next few months. Considering we are all theateratics, these kinds of situations don't come along as often as I wish, and for that I am pleased. More on Millie once we wind up in rehearsals, suffice it to say, this is going to be a really good show.

On the dating scene, well there really isn't much going on. I keep falling back on old habits. I keep falling victim to my insatiable appetite, and really need to slow down. I whine and whine about not getting any dates, about not finding anyone and yet I keep instilling this portrait of myself as a serial dater. Yeah, there are a couple of guys that I would like nothing better to take out of the bar and get to know on a more personal level. To go home with a number, rather than an over night guest, but so far that is not the case.

On a funny note, I was at my old stand by Freddies Tuesday night, chatting with the karaoke host, and I feel this pressure in my hand. I turn around to see what it was and caught the back of someone walking outside. I look down and see a napkin folded up in my palm. I open it up and inside is a note "You are handsome, call me, email me" and contact information. I'm like, "who is this?" I still have no idea, and I am not one to call/email someone sight unseen. Maybe this mystery man will actually come up to me and say hello next time I am in. We shall see.

About Time

Ok, so I am finally ready to expunge upon my year thus far. And it has NOT been a good one, so be prepared.

Ok, to begin with, I started the holiday season, with a second DUI. How depressing. Ok, yes, I know I am a party animal. And I have been curbing my ways since that fateful night. I am actually leaving bars sober, well soberish. .. .but still, its a start. Am I scared of the reprecussions? Yes, I am. I am terrified of having to go to jail, but this is the path I followed, and I need to fess up.

Aside from that, I also had the horrific experience of having my two front teeth (ok, veneers) knocked out at a party. Do I know the specifics, no. And this is a problem, oh alcohol, you have forsaken me, but yes, I had to replace my two front teeth. So, I am dealing with a ricidulous dentist who can't seem to make my "temporary" teeth stay in. I have been to the dentist now 7 times, 7 TIMES! Because one of the temporaries keeps falling out. Hot, no?

Enough of that, ridiculous, yes, but I am dealing. What is really freakin me out is that i have finally started to update my wardrobe. Buying clothes that actually fit me, rather than hide the "fat" that I consider is all over my body. This distinction is very foreign to me. I get hit on. I get compliments constantly. And I can't help but feel that I obviously gave off the vibe that I was fat. .which whigs me out!

Ok, I am not that in shape, yes I have moobies. . . .small as they are, they still constitute moobies. The sag, they are not impressive. . they just are.

I am in a precarious situation currently, and I just seem to continue to flaunt this situation. I actually appear desirable. Ok, I have never been ugly or anything, but I feel like right now, I am pulling focus. I am actually making people look twice, which makes me weird in social situations. Weird? Yes, weird. I can't seem to understand that I am attractive to men. And I don't know why.

I like a guy, yes it is true, I do like someone and want to remain faithful to what could become of it. But, I get this weird I want you vibe from people that I was attracted to, but never wanted to bother with me before, and it gets confusing. So, I just flirt, but don't go overboard. I stop at any sensual touching. Any sort of dick play. . .and I feel gratified. Its pompous, but I feel like, WOW, I am attractive, or at least cute in some way, and I like that.

Freddies is a great place to rebuild your self esteem. People who go there, pay attention to the regulars and compliment as they see you transform, and that is incredible!

My show opens tomorrow, and I am nervous as hell. I hope I am funny. I hope that my friends/collegues/aquaintences find me funny and realistic. I want nothing more than to show those I respect, that I deserve the respect I so often receive. I love acting, I love to peel off my skin and put on someone elses. And I hope that i have not lost my ability to make that true to the audience.

Happy February! I will do my best to update more frequently.

Yet another sleepless night. A night of thinking, and of reflecting on the things I wish that were, the things I want to be, and the reality of what i have. New Years is always a time for us to look back and see those things we wish we could changed, those things that we wish we could have, those things we let slip from our grasp. Conversely, it is also a time to look ahead, a time for us to think about those things that we will achieve, those things that we will make sure to fix, those things that we will rectify in one way or another. For me I have many, many things that i wish to fix, that I wish to rectify in the new year. For me, it is many things, things that I wish had happened, things that I wish would still happen, things that I just don't understand. I pride myself on my friendshipts, My ability to see into people and take the best from them, and hopefully, allow them to take from me the same. My love for my friends reaches beyond just those qualities we share, those qualities we bring into our relationship, it is also a girder, a support to keep me standing, to keep me living. I am blessed to have a hord of girders, a pletheora of people to keep me going. I keep alot inside, and allow my personal girder to shake, bend and at times crumble. It is part of my nature, a nature to keep the bad for myself and only share the good. To allow those I care about to release their inner demons and take those demons into myself. I can't stand the fact that I keep so much inside, so much anxt, so much self loathing. Of course I have friends to vent to, friends to share in my pain, but only to a point, only in so much as I can stand. The rest is left to fester inside, to rot my inner core. Am I alone? Hell no, I think there is that part in us all that selfishly hangs onto the worst, that clings to a darkness that has no business thriving within us. I like to think that, in having a relationship, in find one's true love, one is able to let some of that darkness trickle out. To expose our rotting core, and hope for some sort of relief. It is what we are all in search of, what we all crave. As for me, I hang onto it, and at times it rocks my world, it makes me question my existence, my goodness. It makes me feel dirty, and not in a good way.

So, for now I wish to say Happy New Year, to a year full of hope and quiet desperation, to a year of release from the darkness inside, and the pursuit of a guiding light, a pathway to rightousness and hope. Let 2007 be that, the year of hope, the year of light and resolution.

Ah Thanksgiving. The time of year to gain about 10 pounds while giving thanks for all the good things in your life. Weird things happen, and I just don't get it! Ok, onto tonights randomness. Before I begin, KMac that sucks! I am so sorry!!

So, I decided to go to callbacks, for a role that has literally, 8 lines. . .all talking to another character on the phone. Who calls people back for a role like that!? It was ok though, its a show. . .a chance to make new friends, have some fun. . we shall see. My friend is there, and he invites me to meet him downtown. .hmm, downtown or Freddies. . .which shall it be. . .well, another friend calls and says, Freddies! So, Freddies it is. Now, we all know that I always have the most INTERESTING times at Freddies, tonight is no exception.

I am hanging out with my friend, and who should walk in, yup the guy I thought I was dating (up until Monday, when he blew off my birthday party and never called! ARGH!) and on his arm is the "other man" that he actually introduced me to! Now, ok, I am no angel. I am guilty of trying to juggle, but really. . .you don't introduce each other. . .come on! Anyway, so, being that we are at Freddies. . and that we know all the same people, they stand right in front of me and my friend's table for a long time, not looking at us, not even noticing we are there. . .fine. . .I get up to sing. . .and (ok, this is second hand knowledge, so. . .I don't know the validity) but they start whispering and walk away while I am singing. Cool, no worries. So, I sit and hang, and chat with my friend but who should walk in the door but. . ..Kentucky Ryan. . .ok, this is a guy who rocked my world literally a year ago. . . and then moved to Kentucky. I even made a trip down to visit! So, I walk up to him and say. . huh, weird running into you here! He is happy to see me, but is with his friends, and I don't want to intrude. . so I walk away (oh, did I mention that he was standing right next to me "ex"?). So, I walk back to my table, and continue my lovely evening with my friend. I sing again, and my friend says that my "ex" just stood and stared at me the whole time I sang. Nice, I like that. I sing again, same. . . again, let me say. . this is second hand knowledge so. . dunno how true it is. But, I mean to run into Kentucky Ryan, randomly, at FREDDIES of all places, just blew my mind!

Oh, yeah. . did I mention I have moved on. . no need to even talk to the "ex", shoulda known how it would end when he told me he never really ended things with his previous guy. Thank god its Friday! Off to practice my presentation. Should be interesting. Never spoke on a boat before!

Its A Strange World

So, I posted a drunken blog last night that I deleted, but I think it still needs to be said. I went out last night to Freddies. I have been going there alot lately, since I can't really drive my car and its not too bad. Anyway, I was chatting up this really cute guy. Very intelligent, likes movies and did I mention cute!? So, before we knew it, the bar was closing. So, being that he also lives in Crystal City, we walked back towards my place. We got to my place and I asked him up, he accepted, hooray! So, yada, yada yada . . .boom, yada yada yad, boom AGAIN. .hahahaha, and then he has to go and walk his dog. (boom. . heeeheee) Anyway, he had said he is not interested in dating stuff or anything, he is just playing around, cool. . . .one night stands are good. Moving on. . . .so, I go to bed for a couple of hours, and start packing up some stuff, wanted to get a load over before Mike's stuff arrived. So, I pack up my car, and head over. I unload my car onto a cart and make my way to the elevator. Elevator door opens, and who should be in the elevator but, Mr. Random. I mean, what are the odds? So, we share the most awkward ride in the elevator I have had in quite a long time. I get off on my floor and say, see you around. Push my stuff all the way to the door before the entire cart falls over and my stuff (including my box of laundry detergent) spills all over the floor. Nice.

And that is your Mark story for the day.

Just a quick update. . . .

Oy, this month is just zoomin by!! Joseph is ready to open, and definately ready for an audience! The poor production staff just has seen it way too many times! Work is the same, crazy. . and the fact I no longer have a desk to work at really makes me giggle. . .hence my working from home so often. Its not too bad, but I get so easily distracted at home (ummm, Tetris, cable, etc!) but, things are progressing nicely, still no idea where I will be working next month, but I will deal with that as the date comes up.

On the apartment front, well Mike and I have decided to go for the Bennington in Crystal City:

http://www.archstoneapartments.com/archstoneapartments_v2/Templates/Floorplans.aspx?NRMODE=Published&NRORIGINALURL=%2fApartments%2fVirginia%2fArlingtonCrystal_City%2fThe_Bennington%2fFloorPlans%2ehtm&NRNODEGUID=%7b3E956A87-8CC4-414D-B035-C375D68129CC%7d&NRCACHEHINT=NoModifyGuest

What a long url! Anyway, its the two bedroom layout. Not too shabby! 2 Baths! Washer and Dryer!! Who could ask for more!? We will be moving in as of November 9th and will be having a housewarming/Christmas party. . details on that next month!

Eric and I are still struggling to find time to get together, but after this week, that should be much easier! Poor guy has been slammed at work, working crazy long hours and with me in tech rehearsals. .there just isn't enough hours in the day!!

And I will leave with a silly Mark story. . . .

So, I was running late this morning, and dashed off to the metro with my travel coffee mug in hand. As per usual, I made sure I closed the top before I got on, but didn't notice the pool of coffee collected in the lip of my cup. So I am standing, as per usual, and a group of people were trying to get onto the train. So, I tried to make more room by backing up further into the middle, what I didn't notice was the large suitcase right behind me in the aisle, so I got caught up in that, and ended up spashing this dude sitting next to me. Not badly mind you, but still. . .so annoying. He turned and just glared out me (not that i blamed him) and I kept saying, dude I am so sorry. Oh well, it happens. . .Dude, where ever you are. . .sorry!!

Drunken Ramblings

Huh, so, I go out tonight. ..to Freddies. .. .lookin like shit, having just come from rehearsal, and I am popular. I mean, people talk to me, share jokes with me, and so 0n. What is up with that!? Normally, I am a fly on the wall, ok a fly that some people talk to, but only those regulars that recognize my voice, not me. So, I start to think. . ..huh, when I like someone, I am popular, when I am single and sad, not so much. . .huh, so THATS how it works. I need to find someone, then people will show interest.. .REALLY!? I mean is that how it works?! I'm not "taken" or "betrothed" currently, but yeah, I met someone who I would like to make a go at something with. And NOW I am popular, I am viable!? Is it a scent that people just lap up? Is it my stance, my. . ."Yeah, I have someone, but I LOVE meeting new people" attitude. . I just can't put my head around it. I have been going to Freddies for years, years and years, and aside from my love Kimmer, I don't get recognized very often. People just don't remember me. Yeah, I'm shy, yeah, I tend to slink back in a corner when I am alone and don't recongnize people, but. . .what the!? I just don't get why, when I find someone I COULD date, I suddenly find myself the focal point of other singles. Is it sudden confidence? Is it the scent of stealing someone's man, or is it just me. . with an edge, with a sudden feeling of who gives a shit what you think . ..attidtude that attracts people!?

Who knows. Does it work, no. . .i don't care to stray currently. I want to make a real go at it. But still, why is it that when I am so lonely, and horney that I can't get someone to even look at me, but when I have a potential, that's when the free drinks, the shots, the winks come into play!? Makes one stop and think. Makes one really reflect on the environment that I walk in.

And done, yes. . .drunken Mark has spoken, and it is sad, and repetative, but. . meh,. . who cares, I speak my mind and fuck the consequences.

Happy Columbus Day!!

What a weekend! Got to see some of my friends shine in their show, Pirates of Penzance at TAP. Its a good production, and can I just say Chris Thorn and Rene Moyer are just amazing! Cool set, mostly cool staging. I am not a big fan of the show, but I found myself giggling at some parts (ok, one of the parts was purely accidental when one of the actor's sword broke and flew off into the back of the stage. . hahahahahaaha!), but the final scenes of Act 2 really made it worth seeing. So silly! I always get a warm feeling inside when I see my friends up on stage, especially to see my beautiful friends Kristen and Amanda dressed as woman and lookin hawt!!

Saturday I actually had a date, a DATE! It was glorious! We got together at his place, I brought flowers and wine, and he made me a delicious dinner. We sat and chatted for a few hours and he decided he wanted to go out for a drink. Having just heard from the crew that they were at a bar in Arlington, I asked if would be up for that. He responded with an exuberant YES! I had shown him pics of Amsterdam and Rome, and he was excited to meet my friends in person. So, off we went for ONE drink, I order us up some margarittas, and good lord, was delivered two enormous glasses! More like 3 drinks in one!! So we hung out and after finishing our drinks, headed back to my place.

Sunday, brunch at Freddies. I was impressed with the assortment of food. Normally $15.00, but I had won free brunch for two, so we got away with simply tipping. . hooray! They had everything from huge waffles, made to order omlettes, eggs benedict, steak, chicken, pork, kabobs, salad, soup, fruit, and free mimosa to boot! (just one comes free but. . still). Then rehearsal. . .and sheesh am I sore. I can not get over the fact we ran the entire show, and it ran about an hour. . .ONE hour! LOL! That's not including transitions in and out of scenes, but what a short little show! Hooray!

Can't wait for pay day, pay some bills and actually have spending money again! I am trying, (its about time, I know), to formulate a budget to get myself back on track with bills and stuff, and still give myself enough spending money to not whine about being broke, or forcing myself into exile because of funds. We'll see how that goes. Peace!

European Vacation!!

Well, I am back and back into the swing of things since my European vacation. God, what a good time. Perfect vacation, perfect group of friends! I had every intention of breaking it down, day by day, but now I just feel like a synopsis will do. :-)

traveling is hard on your own. The flights over were long and boring, but that interior hamster wheel was turning so fast, the time flew by. I had such an adrenalin rush on my way over, I hardly slept. Upon my arrival in dear Amsterdam, I found that my surprise was much needed, as my friends had a bit of bad luck to begin our time in Amsterdam, no luggage :( I arrived at the hostel to find Sam and Laura checking their email (and the status of their bags), not the exact place I wanted to walk up to Laura and say "Surprise! The Candy Man has arrived!!" but, it worked out. We did many walking tours of the city, seeing as much as we could fit into the 2 days we had their. Amsterdam is an amazingly beautiful city. Beautiful people, so friendly and welcoming, and yes, weed around every corner!! I tried not to over do it though, I mean I wasn't there to just sit around and get high the whole time, I think I did a good job of maintaining a certain amount of decorum. The Anne Frank Museum was humbling, to say the least, and I got to see a real Windmill up close and personal, hooray! We won't mention the paddle boat incident, yes there was an incident, and under different circumstances, it would have been a delightful way to see the city.

From Amsterdam we traveled to Rome, via Brussels. What can I say about Rome!? Gorgeous men, awe inspiring sites, good food. . .So wonderful. We did our best to get around and see the major sites. Our incredible tour guide Sam got us from one site to the other effortlessly. I was so ecstatic to have someone who was so good at reading maps, thank you Sam!!! The coliseum, the Pantheon, the Forum, Vatican City. . .So many other sites that we saw I just can't even begin to list them all. It was incredible. We even visited a Roman Gay bar, where I went on to enact a quite steamy scene from Queer as Folk in the very dark back room of The Hanger with a guy I met from New York! And came pretty close to having an audience for the occastion! Mark got his GROOVE back!! Hooray! After 4 months of celibacy, it was a much need release! (yeah, pun intended).

Now that I am back, I have a much more positive outlook on things. I have incredible friends who I have shared this awesome experience with. I couldn't think of a better group of people to travel with. Yeah, of course there were some obstacles, aren't there always? But, I would jump on a plane with any and all of them at a moments notice. Sam, Katie, Cathy, John and Laura, thank from the bottom of my heart. I couldn't think of a better group to share my first international trip with, I will never forget this trip nor the incredible amount of laughter and camaraderie that I felt with you all. It brings a tear to my eye to know how blessed I am with the friends that I have right now, not only my traveling buddies, but all of you.

As you know, the contract I am working on has ended and thus, so has my job. I have been trying to figure out what I want to do now, and i have several options available. . but can't seem to make up my mind. Today is just been CRAZY so far!

So, I am having one of those days. I had a job interview this morning at 7:00 am (at Panara Bread in Ballston of all places) and was offered the job, if I want it. Nice, umm ok. . .its working downtown. . .which would rock working back downtown, more money and I would end up a CSC employee after 4 months (which, if any of you remember the fiasco that was working for GSA. . . . same deal, but different company).

So, I have that option. I went on a job interview yesterday with another Gov't agency. . .doing, if you can believe it, even LESS than what I do now. . .and was offered the job this morning, if I want it.

I just got off the phone with the project manager of another project here, and they have a position open, if I want it. . . .it would be working on the system that I have been developing and maintaining, which seems like the best option, with the least amount of pain involved.

AND I have an interview in 5 minutes with CSC for my old position (so, basically I would just keep my job and switch companies), which I would consider, but don't really want to jump companies so soon after starting with SRA.

Now this begs the question. . . .with the amount of time that I work from home, and come in late and leave early. . and generally do NOTHING. . .LOL. . .how is it that they really want to keep me?

I am rolling my eyes currently. I just don't get it.

New Bar!

So, I decided to check out a new bar with some friends. Be Bar. . .huh, very crowded, cool decore but not my scene. God, I am so freaked out that I have a scene! What's with that!? I ditched people I love dearly and wanted to hang out with because I hated the bar so much! Argh, what's with that!? Ok, the bar is cool, cool decore, interesting layout. . but cover charge!? No, not worth it. Drinks!? Piss poor, drinks weren't even filled all the way up! The crowd, even more pretentious than JR's. . . .if that is possible! So, I went to the standards, Cobalt. .. so crowded, you couldn't even move, then JR's. . .manageable crowd, friends. . . but, not feeling it. Not feeling, what's with that!? What happened to me!? Why am I so obsessed with comfort? No wonder I am single. I go out, hang with my friends, and don't put myself out there anymore. I don't make spontaneous conversation anymore. Where did that go? When did that escape me?! Oh well, sleep is a good thing. Perhaps I am sleep deprived and that is why I seem to make so many bad choices of late. Actually, I think that is exactly why I make so many bad choices lately. I need a good night's sleep. All well be better in the morning, right? Of course right. :-)

Be Bar, I will try you again when you are not the "new thing". My friends, I need to fix some thing in me. . .something is broken, Mark needs to get his groove back. OK! Now, on to my latest adventure. . .I met some friends for happy hour at a local gay bar. Hooray! Happy hour! The evening started out awesome. Some friends I haven't hung out with for a while, just getting together and having drinks. One of the friends had invited a friend who he was interested in getting to know better, and having a relationship with. Awesome. So, we were hanging out, having a good time, when another old friend showed up. . some one a friend of mine hadn't seen in a while due to drama. So, they began chatting and working through the drama. . .good for them, well, the person of interest was standing, alone in the corner so, me. . being sensitive to that dilemna, started talking to him. We had a great time, talking about just stuff. . .lots of stuff, and after about an hour. . literally. .. the drama was resolved, and back came my friend to the circle. Well, upon his return, I was confronted with. . .drama of my own, the person my friend was interested in, had become interested in me. Ugh. . .ok, so I have been single for a while now. . and, this made me feel good. . .however. . . my friend was interested so. .. NO. . .NO. . NO for me!!!! So, I turned and started talking to the person next me. An overweight, hairy dude who. . .ok, I was NOT attracted to but. . .well, I had to do something, so I just kept focused on him. As I was waiting for another friend to arrive, I couldn't leave, so . . .I just . . .I introduced this person to my friend and his intended, and they decided they wanted to get some food. "you should come with us!" my friend decided, and his intended winked and said, "absolutely!" I , being of sound mind and morals decided, no. . .I definatley can NOT do that. . so, I stayed behind, just as my other friend arrived. . hooray! an out!!! So, I turned to the person I was "flirting with" and said, "here is my number. I would love to talk more, but am here with friends so. . .need to go." And with that, walked away from him and back with my newly arrived friend. Hooray!

As we were hanging, he said that another mutual friend was on his way. Yeah, a posse!! So, we were hanging, and who should walk in but the recent ex of said mutual friend (recent as of Friday!). Ugh. . .MORE drama. . .so, he comes over, and gives me a hug and says. . ."so good to see you!" yeah, right. .. you know I am friends with your ex dickweed and you also know he is on his way. .nice try. So, the ex arrives (I really can't use names. . . dunno if they read this or not. . .) and I am torn between the two. . talking and what not. I finally get to a point where, I am ready to go. .too much drama, WAY too much drama. . and I am done. . .so, I go to say goodbye to them and I get. ."oh, come with me to Cobalt. .I will put you on my tab and we will have fun!!" Ok, unless fun has to do with coming home with me, I need to go. . .so, I leave.

I should learn from this shouldnt' I? My core group. . .and you know who you are. . .I LOVE YOU ALL! You make me happy and NEVER put me in this situation. Just sharing the other side of my life. . .LOL!

Hot Morning in the City

I awoke this morning to another hot, hazy Washington, DC day. I putter around, getting ready for work and head out the door of my apartment. As I walk out the front door, and into the wall of haze and humidity I knew it was just going to be one of those days. I walked across the street and into the cool Crystal City undergroud to catch the metro into Rosslyn. I made my way through the crowd and found myself amongst a group of people on the platform. Our train arrived a few minutes later, and I entered the car and found a seat. I looked down into my saddlebag to grab the latest James Patterson book I recently started. When I looked up, to my dismay, a set of breasts were approximately 5 inches from my face and a well manicured hand was grasping the bar on the seat in front of me. I glanced up into the face of the owner of these breasts and she smiled down on me, with a naughtly little smirk. Huh, oh well, so back to my book I went. The train jolted as it made its way out of the station and I felt a soft but noticible brush of her breasts upon my ear. I shivered and tried to move further into the seat, to escape, but the passenger next to me, a soldier in a crisp uniform, required alot of space so, I shrank as far as I could and tried to get back into my reading. Each bump of the train resulted in another encounter with this woman's breasts and I was starting to get the impression that she was enjoying it a little too much. As we passed through Arlington Cemetary and back into the underground, I snuck a quick look at her face and saw that her eyes were closed and she was grinning from ear to ear.

At long last, my stop arrived, and as I started to rise saying, "Excuse me" in the lowest voice I could muster she immediately squeezed in behind me, before I had even exited the row and snatch me seat. Happy friday y'all!

Oh happy weekend!

So, had one of those weekends that just seemed blog worthy. Let's start with yesterday. I decided to bring my mom to a fundraiser for my friend who is on her way to Ghana next month. Mom was SO excited to hang out with some of my friends, and I was excited for my friends to hang with mom, so mom met me at my place and I drove her car on down to Reston. As we are exiting the highway, and heading to my friend's, we get stopped by a cop who tells me that I made an illegal right turn. An illegal right turn? I ask, he replies "Yes, the intersection was clearly marked with No right Turn on Red signs, there are four of them" "Sorry, I was just following the GPS and guess I didn't read the signs properly" I responded. He took my license and mom's registration and wrote me an $87.00 ticket. . nice. . .way to impress momma. So, we headed to the party and had a lovely time. Headed home and went to hang with my friend downtown. We had dinner and discussed what to do for the evening. We looked online and found a bar that had $5 all you could drink beer all night. . .what a bargain! Hooray! So, I called some people and set it up. We headed down and drank oh, a bit too much (me? drink too much!? that NEVER happens! :)

After a few hours, we head back to my friends house, where his couch was awaiting my drunk ass and after dispensing some of the beer back to nature, my phone rings. I reach into my pocket to grab it, it slips out of my hand and *kerplunk* right into the john. Being that my reflexes were definately limited and the sheer horror of dropping my phone into the toilet I did not move quick enough to save it from completely shorting out. I walked out of the bathroom and explained to my friend what happened. . . .ten minutes later, after the laughter died down, I was out like a light.

Well, hopefully that got all the bad luck out of my system for this week. :-)

It took me a few days to think on an interesting show I saw during the Capital Fringe festival. The show was La Corbiere. It was performed in a pool in Georgetown, and I think I have lost my ability to appreciate avant garde theater. The plot (and I had to read this) was the story of a ship of french whores that was shipwrecked and no one cared. Uplifting no? So, stylistically I enjoyed the blocking/movement of the piece, but the dialog was, ummm, different. An example? Ok! During one of the flashback scenes, one of the whores is being raped. The dialog consisted of the rapist repeating "This, this, this. . ." and his buddy, who is watching the act responding with "That, that, that. . ." while the whore verbally resisted. At another point, the narrator whore walked around the pool reciting "Sand, sand, sand. . .", which a friend of mine mistook for "Ants, ants, ants. . ." I am all for culture and avant garde theater, and I am so happy I was able to experience this show. I mean really, how often do you get to see a show with such highlights as the "slit, slut, cunt, whore" chant and to see lovely ladies swimming in a pool in their negligee. Sure, I didn't truly "get it" but, whatever, there are freakin TV shows I don't get, so I guess I am not the best critic in terms of artistic treatments of shows.

To those artists that bravely mounted this production, bravo! And to all who participated in Fringe Festival. . .hooray! May next year's festival be just as successful!

OK, so maybe I am not as good at this blog thing as I thought. :)

Summer is quickly slipping away and I still have not seen the ocean, which makes me sad. I've seen the Bay, but that just doesn't compare. . need crashing waves, sand all up in my clothes and aloe for the constant sunburn. Hopefully soon.

I just love the fact that all of the client sites I have worked on have had special little names for me. Census called me Remedy Superman, while GSA called me Remedy Boy and now USAID, which has dubbed me FM Lewis (short for the Famous Mark Lewis). I'm touched, really. How can I be so good at something I hate. . eh, I guess that's part of the mystery of life.

New Kid on the Blog!

So, i have been blogging on myspace and friendster, but now I feel I am ready to free myself of those constraints, and start a real blog! After numerous hours of enjoying my friend EJ's blog (http://ejtakeslife.blogspot.com/) I think that my ridiculous life is ready for these pages.

I have been told that my life would make a hilarious sitcom, and here is the test. So I am working on a new show, a very interesting show, that I will be scantily clad in. I am not necessarily a sun worshipper, and because of this, I have an incredible farmers tan on the back and a very burnt chest. While trying on costumes, my director asked me if I would PLEASE go tanning, to even myself out so I don't look like a FREAK onstage. To this I replied sure! So, today I had my first tanning appointment to get an Orbit tan. What is an Orbit tan you may ask. Well, I have no idea, however, it was quick! I mean 6 minutes was all it took! I know, tanning. . in the summertime!? What gives!? Well let me tell you. For whatever reason, the lounges by my pool do not lay out flat, so in order to lie on your stomach, you have to do a half inverted stomach crunch and hold it for the length of time that you want to lay on your stomach. Oh well, the things we do for theater!!
